Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Departmental Properties.

Michael Moynihan

Ceist:

303 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Education and Science when the completion of the release of interest of his Department in the old national school, Dromina, Charleville, County Cork is due to be completed in view of the fact that this matter has been ongoing for a considerable time, staff changes within his Department seem to be slowing the procedure and local interests plan to develop community facilities. [6108/98]

The release of the Department of Education and Science's interest in the old school, Dromina, Charleville, County Cork, is expected to be completed within the next few days. My Department will be in contact with the school management when this has been finalised.

Ceist:

304 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Education and Science his Department's decision in relation to the application by the Lombardstown Residents' Association for the acquisition of the site of the old Lombardstown vocational school, which is owned by the Department, in view of the fact there are plans to build a sheltered housing project. [6109/98]

An application was received some time ago from County Cork VEC requesting sanction for the disposal of the property in question. Following consideration of the matter and having regard to my statutory responsibility in this area, sanction was conveyed recently to the committee for the disposal of the property to the housing charity.
