Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Commemorative Stamps.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

65 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the proposal, if any, she has to commemorate the life of Dermot Morgan through the commissioning of a postage stamp in view of the recent commemoration in Britain of other actors and comedians in this way. [6411/98]

I appreciate the Deputy's interest in this matter.

The subjects for the annual stamp programme are selected by the Philatelic Advisory Committee after very wide consultation and are then approved by the board of An Post with the dual decision on the composition of the programme being taken by the Government.

The Deputy will appreciate that any proposal for a stamp along the lines referred to in his question would involve consultation, in due course, with the family of the person concerned.
