Proposals for a branch library in Midleton have been received in my Department and are being considered. The position in relation to libraries in Cork County, however, is that the development of a library at Macroom is the County Council's highest priority. I recently approved the acceptance of tenders for that project and agreed to fund it. Having regard to the level of investment committed to Cork County and the demand for funding for library proposals generally, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposals for Midleton.
