199 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will expedite an application made in January 1998 for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny to have a property (details supplied) registered in his name. [9566/98]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 13 March 1998. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process and it is not possible at this stage to give an estimated time for completion of this case.
I assure the Deputy that the land registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
