Vol. 490 No. 1

Written Answers - Departmental Staff.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

11 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of veterinary officers employed in his Department in Cavan; and the way in which this level of staffing compares with counties of a similar size. [9394/98]

A superintending veterinary inspector and five veterinary inspectors are currently employed in my Department's district veterinary office in Cavan. The numbers of veterinary inspectors, including a superintending veterinary inspector, employed in similarly sized counties are as follows: Roscommon, five; Sligo, four; and Monaghan, eight. Two of the veterinary inspectors based in Monaghan are assigned to poultry duties on a full-time basis.
