Ceist:

159 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Finance the estimated cost of the new Garda station to be built in Cobh, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9781/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 157 to 159, inclusive, together.

The Commissioners of Public Works have agreed terms with CIE for the purchase of a site at Cobh railway station for a new Garda station. Legal formalities for the transfer of ownership have commenced.

The design of the new station will be undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works on behalf of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. This work is at a very preliminary stage at present. Accordingly, it is not possible to provide an estimate of cost.
