Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - Eviction Orders.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

269 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to delays of a number of weeks in District Justices signing warrants following the granting of eviction orders to local authorities against tenants involved in anti-social behaviour; if his attention has been drawn to the serious difficulties which these delays cause to neighbours; the steps, if any, he will take to ensure that the issuing of these warrants is expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10114/98]

The signing of warrants is a matter for individual District Court judges. However, I am informed that there is no delay occurring in regard to warrants relating to the granting of eviction orders to local authorities against tenants involved in anti-social behaviour.
