Vol. 490 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

53 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will expedite approval of payment of an area aid application for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and the position of the investigations. [10160/98]

The difficulty, which arose in this case, was due to the fact that the individual to whom the Deputy refers appeared to have been involved in two separate 1997 area aid applications submitted to my Department. Under the terms and conditions governing area aid schemes an individual may only submit a single area aid application covering all the land parcels which he is farming in any one year. My Department has recently completed an investigation into this matter and is satisfied that a payment can be made. Payment will be made as soon as possible.

Ceist:

54 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be issued with his special beef premium and other entitlements based on his area aid application in view of the fact that he has remeasured the forage area and the fact that there seems to be a departmental error; and if the matter will be satisfactorily resolved for him. [10161/98]

Arrangements have been put in place in the area aid unit for the examination of all outstanding cases within the coming three to four weeks. Within this process, priority is being given to applicants for whom payments are outstanding.
