16 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide details of the staffing levels in the planning unit in his Department; the work that they are currently engaged in; and if he will give details of other work which they will undertake in 1998. [10265/98]
The number of staff in the planning and evaluation unit is as follows: principal officer, 1; assistant principal officer, 1; higher executive officer, 1; executive officer, 1.
The unit is currently engaged in supporting the work of the Department in policy analysis, development and review. The unit will also co-ordinate the preparation of the new health strategy for 1999-2010. It may be of interest to the Deputy to note that a detailed breakdown of the unit's work programme is contained in the Department's Statement of Strategy which will be laid before the House tomorrow 1 May, 1998.
