Vol. 490 No. 4

Written Answers. - Domestic Violence Victims.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

45 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide details on the funding provided by his Department for services for the victims of domestic violence; and the funding, if any, he is, or will be, providing for services for the perpetrators of domestic violence. [10249/98]

The information requested by the Deputy in relation to funding provided by my Department for services for the victims of domestic violence is set out on the following tabular statement which I will have circulated with the Official Report.

The Midland Health Board provides psychological assessments for adolescent perpetrators of domestic violence. The Mid-Western Health Board provides £3,000 to Men Overcoming Violence (MOVE) and £143,000 to Adapt House which provides services for male perpetrators and female victims of domestic violence, on an annual basis. The Southern Health Board provided a section 65 grant of £10,000 to the Cork Marriage Counselling and Domestic Violence Project in 1997. The Western Health Board provides nominal funding to Men Overcoming Violent Emotions (MOVE) for the publication of leaflets.
