Vol. 490 No. 6

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

18 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will honour, to the full, the £300,000 allocated on 15 May 1995 to the restoration of St. Mary's Church, Gowran, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9880/98]

The formal allocation of EU funds for the restoration of St. Mary's Church, Gowran was initially £100,000. This allocation was increased to £150,000 and subsequently to £200,000. I am not aware of any greater allocation having been formally approved for this project. I can assure the Deputy that the allocation of £200,000 is sufficient to complete the project works, as stated in my replies to earlier questions given in this House on 4 March 1998 — Question No. 170 — and 2 April 1998 — Question No. 129
