23 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress being made on the provision of a national park in the Nephin Beg area of County Mayo; when she expects to be able to finally announce a commencement of work; the moneys to be drawn down from the operational programme before the end of 1999; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions Nos. 236 to 238 of 28 Aibreán 1998.
As stated in my reply to Questions Nos. 583 and 585 of 21 Aibreán I am at present considering all the advice which I have received regarding the establishment of a national park in the Nephin Beg/ Owenduff area of north west Mayo as well as the location of a proposed visitor centre but I am not yet in a position to make a formal announcement on the matter.
