48 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason area aid payments due to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford have not been paid to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10875/98]
The person to whom the Deputy refers indicated on his 1997 area aid application that he is participating in a milk recording scheme. My Department is in contact with the agency concerned with a view to obtaining the relevant milk recording details as a matter of urgency.
If, however, the person is in possession of a lactation certificate for 1996 or 1997, he should submit it directly to the area aid unit of my Department so that payments can be released. In the event that no milk recording details come to hand, the national average yield of 897 gallons will be used for calculation of payments.
