Vol. 490 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Browne

Ceist:

142 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason there is a long delay in relation to area aid payments due to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford for ten and 22 month premia. [11190/98]

The person named made for the following special beef premium applications: two animals on the ten month special beef premium scheme on 6 August 1997; two animals on the ten month special beef premium scheme on 31 October 1997; seven animals on the 22 month special beef premium scheme on 16 September 1997; two animals on the 22 month special beef premium scheme on 9 October 1997; seven animals on the 22 month special beef premium scheme on 1 October 1997.

Payable orders representing a 60 per cent advance issued on the ten month applications:

ten month 02/12/97 £108.20 (2 × £90.18 @ 60 per cent)

26/01/98 £108.20 (2 × £90.17 @ 60 per cent)

The 22 month special beef premium application submitted on 16 September was rejected as the animals applied on were ineligible on the grounds of age.

A payable order representing a 60 per cent advance issued on the 22 month appliction involving two animals dated 9 October 1997 as follows:

22 month 05/02/98 £108.20 (2 × £90.17 @ 60 per cent).

The outstanding amounts due to the person named under the above schemes have not issued due to a problem on his area aid application. Arrangements have been put in place in the area aid unit for the examination of all outstanding cases. Within this process, priority is being given to applicants for whom payments are outstanding.
