Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

444 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will ensure that the application made by the County Wicklow Community Games Committee for lottery funding is considered favourably in view of its needs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11841/98]

Under the schemes currently administered by my Department, funding is provided to recognised national governing bodies of sport to assist in meeting overall running costs. It is not possible, therefore, to provide funding directly to local clubs or committees for the running costs of events. The governing body, National Community Games, receives annual funding from my Department.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

445 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when a grant from the national lottery under the sports and recreation programme will be paid to an organisation (details supplied) in County Limerick. [11842/98]

A grant of £12,000 was allocated to this group in November 1996 under the sports capital programme. In line with standard procedures, payment of the grant is subject to the group providing specific documentary evidence that the development complies with the terms and conditions of the programme. When this is submitted and found to be in order, payment will be made.
