480 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education and Science if the review of the outdoor education centres has been completed; if he will publish the findings of the review group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11912/98]
I have not yet received the report of the review group on outdoor education centres. I will consider the question of publishing the findings of the group as soon as the report is presented to me.
481 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has satisfied himself that the outdoor education centres operated by vocational education committees and recognised by his Department have adequate safety standards and insurance policies in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am anxious to ensure adequate safety standards are applied in each of the outdoor education centres funded by my Department.
In this regard, the central standards board of the Association for Adventure Sports carries out inspections in relation to adventure sports which are advertised by the centres. I propose to await the outcome of the review group's report on outdoor education centres before making a definitive statement on the adequacy of safety standards at these centres.
