108 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will identify the source of statistics recently quoted by Minister of State, Deputy Mary Wallace, regarding the incidence of domestic violence (details supplied); and if he will make a statement regarding measures undertaken or planned to combat the incidence of domestic violence. [12477/98]
I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 8 and 70 of 14 May 1998 which outline the measures being taken to implement the recommendations of the Task Force on Violence Against Women.
I would also refer the Deputy to the task force report on violence against women. This report was published in April, 1997 by the then Government and a copy of same is available in the Oireachtas Library.
Chapter 3 of the task force report relates to the extent and nature of domestic violence.
