86 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a United Kingdom pension is deducted from pensions from his Department in the case where the pension payable is a contributory based pension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12467/98]

United Kingdom pensions are not deducted from pensions either granted by or under the aegis of my Department. An entitlement to a pension from any previous employment, including employment outside the State, may have an effect on the added years entitlement of certain professional staff.
