Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Brian Lenihan — the need to discuss the issue of special educational needs for autistic children, in particular, the future of Beechpark Special School, Stillorgan, County Dublin; (2) Deputy Ring — the reason a Garda station (details supplied) in County Mayo has been closed in view of the fact that it is a new building; when it will re-open particularly in view of the ever increasing number of tourists in the area; and the amount spent in the building of the new station; (3) Deputy Owen — the serious problem being fought by potato growers in north County Dublin due to the destruction of the potato crop through frost in April; (4) Deputy Lawlor — the possibilities for increasing the pressure on the new regime in Indonesia in relation to vindicating the basic human rights of the people of East Timor now that President Suharto has departed; (5) Deputies Seán Ryan and Owen — the crisis in the potato industry, particularly in north County Dublin and the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to direct Teagasc to carry out a survey of the extent of the problem with regard to the early potato crops; (6) Deputy McCormack — the matter concerning the Office of Public Works' report investigating the flooding problem in south Galway; (7) Deputy Shatter — the circumstances which resulted in a person (details supplied) being dismissed from the Army and the need to publish a report detailing the reasons for his dismissal, having first given him an opportunity to consider and respond to the reasons given; (8) Deputy Bradford — the need to provide a permanent school extension at Rathcormac national school, County Cork; (9) Deputy Durkan — the recent concerns of the consultants at the conditions in Naas hospital, County Kildare; (10) Deputy Broughan — the payment of a £30,000 cheque to cash by Fitzwilton plc to a former Member of this House or the Fianna Fáil party; (11) Deputy Wall — the need to implement measures to attract industry and employment to Athy, County Kildare, to replace the serious job losses that the town and surrounding area have suffered in recent years; (12) Deputy Finucane — the need to intervene with Enterprise Oil which is drilling off the Slyne Trough to try to ensure some Irish workers are employed on the oil rig as has consistently been the case in the past; (13) Deputy McGinley — the urgent need to have residential care facilities for the elderly on Arranmore Island, County Donegal; (14) Deputy Gregory — the threatened loss of teachers in inner city schools including schools involved in the "Breaking the Cycle" scheme for disadvantaged children; (15) Deputy Penrose — the fall in the numbers attending agricultural colleges and the consequent need to restore installation aid grants for young farmers.

The matters raised by Deputies Seán Ryan and Owen, Penrose, Durkan and Gregory have been selected for discussion.
