182 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Finance if it is a Government commitment to bring forward the payment of social welfare increases announced in each budget to April or January; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14087/98]
The position on this matter remains as I stated in my speech on the 1998 budget that:
It is my firm intention that, over the term of office of this Government, the implementation date for budget welfare increases will be brought forward to early April to coincide with the new tax year.
