Vol. 492 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teaching Posts.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

152 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will appoint a teacher for deaf children on a permanent basis at a school (details supplied) in County Monaghan; if he has satisfied himself that a teacher will be available to the school for this purpose in September 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14730/98]

At present the school concerned does not have a vacancy into which a permanent appointment can be made. I can assure the Deputy that the needs of this school will be kept under review and that the continued provision of a teacher for the hearing impaired will be considered in the context of available resources and the needs of the pupils concerned.
