Vol. 492 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Port.

John Gormley

Ceist:

84 Mr. Gormley asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment whether she has received a copy of the report arising from the safety study of all existing facilities at Dublin Port which was commenced in 1997 and involved the Dublin Fire Brigade, the port company and an independent consultant appointed by Dublin Corporation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14685/98]

John Gormley

Ceist:

85 Mr. Gormley asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment whether she has satisfied herself that all operations in Dublin Port are properly licensed, regulated and monitored by the appropriate authorities in view of the fact that a number of matters of concern were outstanding 12 months ago; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14686/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 84 and 85 together.

I am not aware of the report to which the Deputy refers. If the Deputy is referring to occupational health and safety issues then it is for the employer, in the first instance, to ensure that all occupational health and safety legislation is complied with, and it is the National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health (HSA) which monitors compliance with the legislation.
