Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

222 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will have her service since 1996 included as reckonable service for pension purposes with the health board in view of the fact that the same conditions pertain to her employment as when she had eligible service from 1982 to 1992; if a decision will be given in this regard; and, if so, when. [15000/98]

In the context of an appeal by the individual concerned last year in relation to the matter of the inclusion of her name on the register kept by the South-Eastern Health Board under section 65 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1945, as amended by section 41 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1961, and following consultations with the board, I consented to having her name entered on the register in question for the period between April 1982 and November 1992. However, I indicated that the individual was not entitled to have her name entered on the register for either her previous or subsequent employment with the board.

Having further consulted the board in the matter, I see no reason to change this decision.
