249 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason for the delay in sanctioning the revised polling booth scheme for County Galway which was submitted to his Department by Galway County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14789/98]
My Department has deferred further consideration of this scheme until Galway County Council has reviewed the scheme in the light of the changes in the boundary between the Dáil constituencies of Galway East and Galway West contained in the Electoral (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1998, and any possible changes which may be recommended by the boundary committee, which I established on 11 February 1998, to review local electoral areas. The report of the committee is due to be presented to me by 1 July 1998. Galway County Council has been advised of this decision.
