Paul McGrath
Ceist:375 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the salary conditions for national teachers appointed to special education can be greatly inferior to that of their colleagues in ordinary national schools; his views on a situation whereby a teacher appointed earlier in 1998 to a school for children with hearing impairment will be denied holiday pay despite the existence of a contract of employment for the period up to 31 August 1999; his views on whether this will cause hardship to the teacher concerned; his views on whether these terms of employment are detrimental to the recruitment of teachers in special education; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
