I propose to take Questions Nos. 12, 24, 27, 29, 42, 46, 58 and 75 together.
As the House is aware the position is that intoxicating liquor cannot be sold in this country without a licence. However, as the Deputies will appreciate, the liquor licensing laws comprise a comprehensive and complex body of legislation. Licences may be divided into different categories and are issued on the fulfilment of certain conditions provided for in the licensing laws, and in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Finance Acts.
It has not been possible, in the short period available between receipt of the questions and today, to assemble the information sought by the Deputies. However, l can say that the Department is in touch with the Revenue Commissioners with a view to obtaining the necessary information. When it is available l will write to the Deputies.
