293 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the waiting list period for brain stem scans in the South-Eastern Health Board area; if sufficient funds have been made available to deplete the list which is reported to be in the hundreds; his views on the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is waiting for a scan since March 1998 and is considered an urgent case by his general practitioner and consultant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Kilkenny in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
