Vol. 493 No. 5

Written Answers. - International Fund for Ireland.

John Bruton

Ceist:

30 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the way in which his Department takes part in the work of the Advisory Committee to the International Fund for Ireland. [14422/98]

The agreement between the Irish and British Governments establishing the International Fund for Ireland provides that the independent board of the fund is assisted by an advisory committee of the two Governments. The committee is composed of senior officials drawn from Departments, North and South, and is normally jointly chaired by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Northern Ireland Department of Finance and Personnel.

Other Departments in the South, whose competence is relevant to the work of the fund, also participate in the committee. These would normally include the Departments of the Taoiseach, Finance, Enterprise Trade and Employment and Tourism, Sport and Recreation.
