Vol. 494 No. 3

Written Answers - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

225 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount allocated towards patients' costs and overheads by the South-Eastern Health Board to community homes for the elderly in Freshford, Ballyragget, Callan, Kilmoganny and Kilmacow, County Kilkenny; the plans, if any, he has to increase the allocation to the South-Eastern Health Board in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18260/98]

The amount of allocation made to the homes referred to by the Deputy is a matter for determination by the South-Eastern Health Board. I understand from the board that the amount of section 65 grant aid paid to the homes in question in 1998 was as follows:

Freshford

£17,000

Kilmoganny

£20,000 and £23, 000 (once off grant)

Ballyragget

£10,000

Callan

£12,000

Kilmacow

£9,550
