Vol. 494 No. 3

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

252 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an application to his Department for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has requested that property be registered in his name; and when the transaction is likely to be completed. [18263/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 13 March 1998. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage.

I am further informed that notice has been served on 15 June 1998 on all parties whose interests may be affected by the application in so far as such parties can be identified and that the Land Registry is currently engaged in correspondence with the notice parties. This correspondence must be satisfactorily resolved before this application can be considered for completion. I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
