Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Boylan — the crisis in pig farming which is leading to concern for animal welfare; (2) Deputy Matt Brennan — the urgent need for a new fire station in Tubbercurry, County Sligo; (3) Deputy Naughten — the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to immediately approve funding for the Castlerea sewerage scheme; (4) Deputy Broughan — the need to tackle the problem of joyriding which is causing grave concern on the northside of Dublin; (5) Deputy Farrelly — the need to provide extra funds in the forthcoming budget for the appointment of counsellors to second level schools to tackle the problem of suicide among young people; (6) Deputy O'Shea — the need to allow phase two of the extension to St. Mary's national school, Ballygunner, County Waterford, to go to tender; (7) Deputy Sheehan — the steps being taken by the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources arising from an incident involving the Irish fishing vessel MSV Girl Jane whose nets were destroyed by a French registered vessel; (8) Deputy Gilmore — the subject matter of Parliamentary Questions Nos. 82, 86 and 106 of 6 October 1998 about irregularities in the beef industry; (9) Deputy McManus — the failure of the Government to tackle the growing crisis of hospital waiting lists, the serious level of hospital bed closures which is exacerbating the problem and the need for immediate resourcing of hospitals in order to save lives; (10) Deputy Ulick Burke — the need to increase the capitation grant and the number of remedial and resource teachers at primary schools in County Galway; (11) Deputy Durkan — the subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 611 of 30 September 1998 regarding the payment of the one parent family allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; (12) Deputy Stanton — the need to develop appropriate educational responses in relation to the treatment of autism, especially for younger children; (13) Deputy Fitzgerald — the need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the new regulations put in place for prescribing methadone and the role of the health boards in this regard; (14) Deputy Kirk — the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to invite representatives of the supermarkets and RGDATA to discuss the huge price differential between farm and retail prices; (15) Deputy Conor Lenihan — the need to clarify the position regarding the funding of Tallaght Hospital by the Department of Health and Children; (16) Deputy Upton — the need to ensure that the Irish position in the negotiations on the next round of EU Structural Funds ensures that Dublin receives the highest level possible of Cohesion Funding to tackle social and infrastructural problems that plague the capital city.

The matters raised by Deputies Kirk, Sheehan, Gilmore and Farrelly have been selected for discussion.
