Vol. 495 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

384 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education and Science when Clifferna, Stradone, national school, County Cavan, is to commence building; his views on whether the delay was due to the fact that tenders were too high; and his further views on whether this is a valid excuse. [19099/98]

The position with the building project for a new school at Clifferna is that tenders are currently being evaluated by my Department in order that the best value for money can be obtained from the expenditure of public funds in line with public procurement procedures. There has been no undue delay with the evaluation process in this particular case. It would be premature for me to give a precise date for commencement of building works.
