388 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to reports that a research facility attached to an NUI campus (details supplied) has been partially equipped by the US Defence Forces and that this equipment is used to supply data to US military authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Mace Head atmospheric station operates under the auspices of NUI Galway. My Department has made inquiries in this matter and I understand that this facility has not been partially equipped by the US Defence Forces and that it does not supply data to US military authorities.
