34 Mr. J. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has received an application for financial assistance to assist in the development of the Admiral Browne project in Foxford, County Mayo; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19698/98]
I met a deputation from the Admiral Browne Society on 26 March this year about its proposals for a number of interlinked projects to commemorate Admiral Browne. I pointed out to the deputation that all funding available to my Department in the period to end of 1999 to provide assistance towards the development of capital arts and cultural projects under the cultural development incentive scheme had been fully committed and that I could not therefore usefully consider these proposals.
This still remains the position.
