274 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total number of landlords registered in each local authority for each of the last three years; the total number of rental units this represents in each case; the procedures in place for this information to be passed on to the Revenue Commissioners; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Housing (Registration of Rented Houses) Regulations, 1996 came into effect on 1 May 1996. Information on the number of registered dwellings and the number of landlords of registered dwellings is published in my Department's housing statistics bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The register is available for inspection by any person at the offices of the local authority and the information in the register may, in this way, be accessed by the Revenue Commissioners.
