62 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of arrests made to date under the provisions of the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1998; the number of persons in custody arrested and charged under the Act; and if he will make a statement on the matter. No person has been charged with any of the new offences introduced by the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1998. The power of rearrest provided for under section 11 of the Act has not been used to date.
