Ceist:268 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will receive a 1998 headage payment. [21241/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 267 and 268 together.
No applications were lodged by the person named under the suckler cow premium scheme in 1994 or in 1995. A letter issued to him from my Department on 17 June 1996 stating that since he was a non applicant for suckler cow premium for two consecutive years his quota was reverting to the national reserve. No reply was received to this letter.
Applications were received under the suckler cow premium on 22 May 1996 and on 30 May 1997. However there was no entitlement to payment as the person named had his suckler cow quota withdrawn. No applications were received under the special beef premium scheme for 1997.
Since no entitlement to suckler cow premium or special beef premium was establised in 1997 he is therefore not entitled to extensification premium.
Regarding the 1998 schemes, difficulties have arisen in processing the area aid application of the person named and are being raised with the herd-owner. When these have been resolved any payment due will issue as soon as possible.
