Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers Scheme.

John Perry

Ceist:

365 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have a primary medical certificate issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21470/98]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that no application has been received from the person concerned for relief under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Relief) Regulations, 1994. I understand that the senior area medical officer has refused to issue the necessary primary medical certificate in respect of the person concerned.

Refusal of a primary medical certificate may be appealed to the Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal, an independent board, whose decision is final.

I am advised that the person concerned has been in correspondence with the board in this regard.
