Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

Seán Haughey

Ceist:

398 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that a residential placement is found for a 25 year old mentally disturbed person (details supplied) in Dublin 5; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21053/98]

The Eastern Health Board is responsible for the provision of health services, including mental health services, in its catchment area. The board has indicated that it is hoped that a residential placement will be provided in the next two weeks for the person referred to by the Deputy. This placement, I understand, will be a provisional one in a community residence in the catchment area of St. Brendan's Hospital for a number of months until a suitable permanent placement becomes available for him in a high-support community residence in the catchment area of St. Ita's Hospital.
