Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Filming Licences.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

561 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the number of licences issued in respect of filming being carried out at national parks and nature reserves; the amount of revenue accrued in the past three years from these licences; and the proposals, if any, she has to expand this service in view of its potential beneficial tourism implications internationally. [20971/98]

Sixty licences have been issued for filming in national parks and nature reserves in the last three years and £1,421 has been remitted to the Appropriations-in-Aid account. A facility fee is charged for filming, which may be waived, at the discretion of Dúchas, the Heritage Service of my Department, on occasions where the filming is considered to promote the work or aims of Dúchas. It is the policy of my Department to co-operate with requests received for filming at national parks and nature reserves.
