Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Enterprise Ireland.

Ceist:

65 Dr. Upton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the current staffing levels at Enterprise Ireland; if staff have been offered a redundancy package due to a duplication of responsibilities following the merger of the various agencies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21127/98]

The current staffing level in Enterprise Ireland is 1,078. This figure includes 35 legal metrology staff and 23 national metrology staff who will transfer to the National Standards Authority of Ireland. I have decided that 25 staff will transfer to Enterprise Ireland from FÁS. The process for deciding who will transfer and when is currently being finalised. Pending completion of this process FÁS services to business will continue to provide a full service to clients.

With regard to the redundancy issue, Enterprise Ireland is currently reviewing its staffing and structures within the policy framework which I established. In this context, no staff member has been offered a redundancy package and of course there will be no forced redundancies.
