82 Mr. Quinn asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the consideration, if any, she has given to amending current legislation which governs the make-up of the board of FÁS to allow for the inclusion of representatives of the unemployed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. At the beginning of this year I appointed a new FÁS board. The term of office of the board runs from 13 January 1998 to 12 January 2001, a period of three years. At this point, I am not considering amending the Labour Services Act, 1987, which governs the appointment of FÁS board members.
However, I propose to keep to composition of the board under review in the context of the evolving role and functions of FÁS.
