145 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the degree, if any, to which she proposes to bring changes in the insurance industry with particular reference to motor insurance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21962/98]
The Deputy may be aware that a major component of our Department's business plan in pursuance of the departmental strategy statement is an examination of the cost of motor insurance and methods of providing motor insurance. The programme will be delivered mainly through the work of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board which was formally launched on 3 September 1998. I have asked the board to provide advice and recommendations on these and other related matters in accordance with set terms of reference.
