Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the uncertainty regarding the future of traffic wardens in the Dublin metropolitan area; the plans, if any, there are to relocate these unestablished State employees; his intentions in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A Government decision of 26 July 1995 gave approval in principle to the transfer of the traffic warden service from the Garda authorities to Dublin Corporation. My Department has been working towards the transfer of the service with effect from 1 February 1999 in conjunction with the Garda authorities and is in regular discussions with Dublin Corporation with a view to finalising the transfer.
