190 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the level of rate support grant each local authority received for 1998; the allocation of money from the local Government fund for 1999 in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24019/98]

I refer the Deputy to my reply of Question No. 502 of 3 November 1998, which sets out the general position.

Since the allocations were made, an order made by the Minister for Finance, Valuation Act, 1988 (Global Valuation: Electricity Supply Board) (Apportionment) Order, 1998, effects changes in valuation relating to ESB property. In light of this, I have advised local authorities that I will be revising their allocations on a financially neutral basis.
