179 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the capital projects involving funding from his Department scheduled to commence in the Waterford constituency in 1999; the estimated expenditure in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25055/98]
The sports capital programme provides national lottery funding towards the provision of sports facilities at national, regional and local level. The programme is currently under review by my Department and I expect that this review will be completed by the end of 1998. On completion of the review, details of the revised schemes will be widely publicised and it will then be open to clubs and organisations to apply for funding under the new programme. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say what projects will be funded under the programme in 1999 in the Waterford constituency. Details of tourism projects being funded is available from Bord Fáilte Éireann which is the implementing agency for tourism grant schemes, particularly those involving EU funding.
