Vol. 497 No. 5

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

185 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in the finalisation of a special beef premium appeal in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [25844/98]

The herdowner lodged an appeal on 9 April 1998 concerning his 1997 22 months special beef premium application. Appeals are dealt with in the order in which they are received and require individual examination. The reason for the delay in examining the appeal is the large quantity of appeals currently on hand in the appeals unit. This appeal is being examined and it is expected it will be finalised shortly.

The area aid application of the person named has now been processed. Any outstanding payments due will issue as soon as possible.
