103 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science if the escort scheme for children attending St. Anthony's school, Castlebar, County Mayo, and travelling by bus will be put on a permanent basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24458/98]
I am very much aware of the need to extend the existing escort scheme on special school transport services. I hope to be in a position to extend the escort scheme to additional special services in the near future. The needs of children attending St. Anthony's school, Castlebar, will be fully considered in the context of any extension of the escort scheme which may be undertaken.
