Ceist:

174 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance when the internal examination planned to recruit suitable persons for the clerical officer grade from the ranks of service officers and attendants will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25926/98]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy):

It is expected that this confined interdepartmental competition will be held by the Civil Service Commission in spring/summer 1999. The intention is that a circular announcing details of the competition will be issued by the Department of Finance in spring 1999.
