Vol. 497 No. 6

Written Answers - Health Centres.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

186 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will consult with the South-Eastern Health Board on the urgent need to have a new health centre provided at Kilmanagh in County Kilkenny. [26022/98]

The provision of health centres in County Kilkenny is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

I have contacted the South-Eastern Health Board and have been advised that it is aware of the unsatisfactory accommodation that exists in Kilmanagh. The board is currently in discussions with the newly appointed general practitioner to ascertain his requirements for the provision of services in the area.

Financial support from my Department for the improvement of health centre facilities in Kilmanagh will be considered in 1999 in the context of the priority which the South-Eastern Health Board attaches to it, the available capital resources and the competing demands on those resources.
